Sorrakai Koora

Sorrakaya also known as Anapakaaya is used in many south indian dishes. Usually in Sambar preperation.
English name is 'Bottle Gaurd'.
We make cury out of this vegetable in 2 types. One is cut into small peices, season it and add seseme seeds powder. Instead of seseme seeds powder you can also add chutney powder (see my recipe for chutney powder). This will make it a dry curry. It goes well with daal rice.
The recipe in picture is a gravy one.
1. cut bottle gourd into med 1 inch square peices.
2. Cut one med onion into long thin peices.
3. Take oil in a pressure pan and add mustards seeds, hing. once mustard seeds sputter add onions, and turmeric, green chillies.
4. Fry for a min, add the bottle gourd peices. Add Salt. Curry leaves
5. Pressure cook this mixture for whistle.
6. Remove from pressure cooker and add at this point you can add milk if you like it creamy.
Serve with Chapathi or Rice.
